But when her people fell into the hands of the foe, and she had no help, Her foes looked on and laughed at her collapse. Jerusalem remembers in days of wretched homelessness, All the precious things she once had in days gone by. No one was there to protect them from their enemies who sneered when their city was taken. Her people recall the good life that once was theirs now they suffer and are scattered. When her people fell into the hand of the foe, and there was no one to help her, the foe looked on mocking over her downfall. Jerusalem remembers, in the days of her affliction and wandering, all the precious things that were hers in days of old. ![]() When she fell to the enemy, there was no one to help her Her conquerors laughed at her downfall. A lonely ruin now, Jerusalem recalls her ancient splendor.
